Welcome! I am Gundega Bluma an artist from Latvia. I cannot imagine my life without the presence of the creative spark at every moment. I find interest in interpreting and portraying what I see through my own prism, in a special way. As a result, after high school, I was led to the Latvian Academy of Arts, where I obtained a master's degree in fine arts. Over the years, I have had many solo exhibitions in cities in Latvia and also in Germany, where I lived last 5 years. My favorite technique is oil painting, as it allows me to express my ideas most fully. Lately, however, I have been fascinated by mixing techniques. I create acrylic paintings, which, in my opinion, give artworks more vitality and expressiveness.
Colors and light are the most important elements for me to convey my vision in paintings. I enjoy living in the city, but in every free moment, I venture into nature with my camera or sketchbook to observe, contemplate, explore, and get inspired. In spring, for example, I often turn my gaze upwards to see the interesting patterns formed there! Tree branches, birds, leaves, shadows, translucent, softly toned light – the movement of sea waves, which I also enjoy while surfing, the slanting rays of the summer evening sun, winter art creations – all of these fascinate and inspire me. Later, they find their way onto canvas or paper and magically transform while preserving the initial impulse. Therefore, I tend to describe my style as abstract realism.
Welcome to my world, where colors, light, and the play of forms reign!
